Structural Engineering for Ton-Level Loads

The foundation of the Herochu system is its robust steel structure. Fabricated from high-grade structural steel, the racking system is engineered to resist deflection under full load. This is not a system designed for occasional heavy use—it is built for continuous, demanding operation in the most challenging industrial environments.

Each storage layer is independently rated for 3 to 5 tonnes. The rack columns are designed for the cumulative load of all levels simultaneously occupied at maximum capacity. When a system is configured with 10 or 15 layers, a single rack can hold 50 to 75 tonnes of material. Multiple racks can be combined into a massive warehouse system capable of storing thousands of tonnes of steel pipes, beams, and sheets.

The rack structure rises from five to thirteen levels or more, depending on the facility’s ceiling height and storage requirements. Each level’s floor height is customizable, allowing the system to accommodate different material cross-sections and bundle sizes. The storage length of goods extends to 8,000 mm as standard, with customization available for longer materials.

The Gantry: Precision in Motion

The gantry achieves a maximum travel speed of 50 meters per minute—double that of competing gantry systems, which typically run at 25 meters per minute. All three axes—horizontal travel, vertical lift, and fork extension—are servo-controlled and synchronized to enable coordinated motion paths. The gantry can handle single profiles or bundled profiles without reconfiguration. For single profiles, the forks use adjustable-width spacing to center the load. For bundles, the forks spread wider to support the full width. The transition between modes is automatic, triggered by the work order instruction.

Intelligent Control for Unmanned Operation

The Herochu system is designed for fully autonomous operation. Vision cameras mounted on the gantry verify that the fork position matches the profile or bundle dimensions before engagement. Photoelectric sensors detect material arrival. Barcode or RFID tags identify each item. Laser scanners measure dimensions. Platform scales record weight.

The Warehouse Control System (WCS) translates inventory commands into motion sequences for the gantry, optimizing travel paths to avoid collisions and minimize energy consumption. The Warehouse Management System (WMS) handles inventory tracking, lot management, first-in-first-out (FIFO) assignment, and generates usage statistics. Both systems can display live stock levels on large production screens, enabling shop floor personnel to check material availability at a glance.
