The system is built around the principle that four-meter bar stock deserves dedicated, damage-free storage rather than ad-hoc floor placement. Each storage tier operates as an independent cell, allowing operators to assign specific materials to specific levels. Stainless steel rounds can occupy one tier with protective contact surfaces, while carbon steel bars occupy another with standard steel arms. Copper bar stock, being softer and more prone to surface marking, benefits from optional rubber or plastic arm sleeves that prevent direct metal-to-metal contact during loading and retrieval.

The telescopic function is central to the system’s operational logic. Manual crank mechanisms extend each tier outward, bringing the stored material to the aisle face for direct crane or forklift access. For facilities handling multiple metal types on a daily basis, this eliminates the need to reach into the rack structure or maneuver around adjacent stock. The crank drive requires no electrical infrastructure, making it suitable for facilities where powered systems would introduce unnecessary complexity or maintenance overhead. Load capacity for the four-meter configuration is rated at 3,000 kg per tier on standard models, with customization available for denser bundles or heavier alloys. The Q235B steel frame undergoes powder coating after fabrication, producing a chip-resistant surface that withstands the incidental contact common in metal-handling environments. The coating also serves a secondary purpose: it provides a clean, non-oxidizing contact surface that will not transfer rust or scale to stored stainless or copper stock.

Material segregation extends beyond surface protection. Carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper respond differently to environmental exposure, and cross-contamination between these material families can create quality issues that only surface at the fabrication stage. By assigning each material type to a dedicated tier, the Herochu system enforces physical separation without requiring additional floor space or secondary containment.

Customization is not an afterthought in the Herochu production process; it is the starting point. Arm lengths, tier spacing, load ratings, and surface treatments are specified against the customer’s actual inventory profile rather than selected from a fixed catalog. For a facility storing four-meter bars across three metal families, the rack layout can be configured with different arm geometries on different tiers: wider spacing for bundled carbon steel, tighter spacing with protective sleeves for individual copper bars.

The safety architecture includes arm-end retainers that prevent cylindrical stock from rolling during extension or retraction, cross-braced uprights that increase torsional stiffness under asymmetric loading, and base geometries engineered to eliminate tip-over moments even when upper tiers are fully extended. These features matter more in mixed-material storage than in single-material applications, because the operator is frequently switching between tiers with different load characteristics.
