Most pipe storage problems are not capacity problems. A warehouse can almost always find another square meter of floor to pile pipe on. The real cost is the retrieval step: locating the right bundle inside a static rack, then extracting it without disturbing everything in front of it. A manual pipe telescopic cantilever racking rack attacks that step directly by turning each storage tier into an independent drawer that extends into the aisle.

The distinction between “cantilever” and “telescopic cantilever” is the difference between storing long material and accessing it. A conventional cantilever rack holds pipe on fixed arms; the crane must approach from the front and manipulate the load within the arm structure. A telescopic rack mounts the arms on a moving carriage. The operator cranks the carriage outward, the arms and the pipe travel together, and the pick happens in open air clear of the frame. Herochu’s manual crank version uses a gear-and-rack drive train that extends each tier independently, so pulling one bundle does not expose or destabilize the bundles on adjacent levels.

The zero-electricity reliability argument

Pipe yards and steel distribution centers are not clean-room environments. They are places where dust, grit, temperature swings, and occasional impact are normal operating conditions. A manual telescopic cantilever racking rack removes the components most sensitive to that environment: motors, variable-frequency drives, limit switches, and hydraulic power units. The Herochu design relies on a high-torque hand crank, heavy-duty bearings, and a mechanical carriage. There is no control panel to fault out and no hydraulic fluid to leak onto stored pipe.

That simplicity does not mean low performance. The crank’s mechanical advantage allows a single operator to extend a fully loaded tier — up to 3 tons of steel bars, depending on configuration — with normal physical effort. Each tier operates independently, so the operator chooses the level and extends only that level. The rest of the rack stays compact, which keeps the footprint small and the aisle clear.

What “100% extension” changes in the aisle

The open-front geometry of a cantilever rack already removes the front column that blocks long loads. Full extension removes the remaining constraint: the crane’s hook path. When a Herochu tier extends fully, the arms and the bundle sit outside the rack’s column line. The crane hook travels a straight vertical path down to the load, lifts, and retracts. No angling, no swinging between uprights, no chain walking along the bundle to find a balance point.

The layout consequence is significant. Because picks happen in the extended position rather than deep inside the rack, the aisle does not need to accommodate a crane or forklift reaching into the frame. The system supports top-loading access and a compact footprint, which matters in high-density warehouses where aisle width is the difference between adding a bay and renting another building.

Steel, coating, and the 3–5 ton compartment

Herochu builds the frame and arms from Q235B carbon steel, a structural grade with 235 MPa yield strength and good elongation for toughness under cyclic loading. For heavier or higher-stress layouts, Q355B raises yield strength to 355 MPa, providing a larger fatigue margin when bundles are dropped or shifted repeatedly. The powder-coated finish resists rust, scratches, and oil, which extends service life in workshops where pipe is stored near machining or cutting operations.

Load ratings are compartment-based, not just rack-based. The 5-layer vertical structure with adjustable arms lets the same frame hold different pipe diameters, wall thicknesses, and profile shapes across tiers. Matching the rack to the pipe yard

A pipe yard rarely stores one product. Line pipe, structural tube, mechanical tubing, and PVC or aluminum extrusions may all pass through the same bay. Herochu offers customizable classification storage so the rack’s arm spacing and compartment dividers match the material mix rather than forcing every bundle into a universal slot. The standard models cover 6 m, 9 m, and 12 m pipe lengths, with load ratings from 3,000 kg to 5,000 kg per level. CE and ISO compliance provide the baseline certification; operational safety still depends on load plaques, anchoring, and inspection under EN 15635.
