Why laser cutting lines run out of plate

Laser cutters have become faster than the people feeding them. Nesting software packs more parts per sheet, cut speeds climb, and the machine finishes its work before the next plate reaches the table. The result is idle machine time — the most expensive kind. Manual storage makes it worse: plates stacked in racks must be found, lifted, and carried, and any mistake in identification sends the wrong gauge to the table. An automated tower solves both problems at once by holding the plate inventory next to the line and presenting the right sheet on demand. How the tower feeds the cutting line

The system works as a vertical buffer between plate storage and the cutting machine. Heavy duty by design

Each tray is made of Q345 steel, sandblasted, oxidized, and electrostatic powder coated; a single tray is tested to support 5 tons. The frame uses large-section high-strength thick-walled steel, with main load-bearing components formed from cold-rolled steel pipes that offer high strength and good pressure resistance. One set stores up to 24 tons. Sensors are rated IP67, so dust and debris from cutting operations do not affect reliability, and the structure stays rigid under repeated heavy cycles.

Customization to match the plate mix

No two laser shops stock the same plate. The Herochu tower is built to order: maximum storage dimension up to 6,000 × 2,500 mm, layer counts up to 15, multiple towers arranged side by side, and clearance space of 240 mm. Power input can be 220 V or 380 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, covering both domestic and export installations. If a shop’s plate mix changes later, the storage configuration can be adjusted rather than replaced. Lifting is powered by a variable frequency motor rated 5.5–11 kW, and inlet/outlet motors are 1.5–2.2 kW.
