The Smart Material Library for Industrial Profiles represents a paradigm shift in how manufacturers view their raw material inventory. No longer a chaotic graveyard of steel and aluminum, the warehouse becomes a curated repository where every beam, pipe, and profile has a precise, accessible location. The Herochu system is the physical manifestation of this philosophy, combining high-density architecture with intelligent retrieval logic.
The “Smart” aspect of this library begins with its spatial organization. Traditional storage methods often lead to disorganized piling, where accessing a specific profile buried at the bottom of a stack requires moving multiple layers of inventory—a process known as “digging.” Herochu eliminates this inefficiency through its high-density vertical configuration. By utilizing up to 13 storage levels within a 200-square-meter footprint, the system creates a structured matrix of storage locations. Each location is accessible directly by the gantry robot, meaning that any specific profile, whether it is a standard 12-meter bar or a specialized extrusion, can be retrieved without disturbing the rest of the inventory. This direct-access capability turns the warehouse into a true library, where the “book” (material) is delivered to the “reader” (production line) on demand.
At the core of this delivery system is the precision gantry robot. Unlike the coarse  movements of traditional cranes, the Herochu gantry operates on linear guide rails with a chain drive mechanism designed for smooth, high-torque operation. This ensures that the “books” in this library—often weighing up to 5 tonnes per layer—are handled with the care due to valuable assets. The system’s speed is calibrated for stability, moving at 9 m/min vertically and 12 m/min horizontally. This prevents the load sway that could damage sensitive aluminum profiles or scratch coated steel tubes. The result is a preservation of material quality that manual handling simply cannot guarantee.
The Herochu system also serves as a Smart Material Library for Industrial Profiles by adapting to the specific “genres” of materials a facility handles. The structural design is highly configurable, available in widths of 6015mm, 6020mm, and 6025mm. This allows the system to accommodate the varying lengths and binding methods of different industrial profiles. Whether storing bundled copper tubing, which requires careful stacking to prevent deformation, or large-diameter steel pipes, the system’s load-bearing capacity of 3 to 5 tonnes per layer ensures structural integrity. Furthermore, the ability to scale the number of floors from 8 to 13 allows facility managers to expand their “library” vertically as their collection of materials grows, without the need to acquire new land or construct additional buildings.
By reclaiming the “cube” and eliminating the wasted space of access aisles, Herochu allows companies to hold a larger, more diverse inventory within the same physical footprint.
