When every extra metre of floor costs money and every scratched sheet eats profit, generic pallet racks become expensive liabilities. Herochu’s cantilever rack system is built for one purpose: to let metal-working businesses store, see and retrieve steel pipe, sheet, bar and plate faster, safer and with zero deformation. From 3 m to 12 m bay lengths, from 500 kg to 5 000 kg per arm, each module is cut, welded and hot-dip-galvanised to order in our own plant—no middle-man, no catalogue compromises.
Why cantilever for sheet metal?
Traditional selective racks demand uniform pallets; sheet metal does not cooperate. Bundles vary in width, length and thickness, and one shifted bundle can buckle an entire stack. Herochu’s open-front geometry removes the constraint: arms adjust on 50 mm increments, no front column to block loading, no back clearance lost to cross-braces. Fork-lift drivers slide forks straight in, place the load, retract—one motion, thirty seconds, zero contact with adjacent stock. The result is 40 % more usable cubic metres in the same footprint, verified by independent warehouse-layout simulations we run free of charge before you commit.
Core construction
- Columns: 450 mm deep I-beam profile, laser-cut from S355 structural steel, 6 mm web thickness.
- Arms: welded box-section, taper-tipped to prevent sheet snagging. Standard lengths 800 mm, 1 000 mm, 1 200 mm; custom up to 2 000 mm. Bolt-on pipe stops and replaceable polyethylene arm caps keep delicate polished tubes free from scoring.
- Bases: full-width anchor plates, 12 mm thick, pre-punched for M20 chemical anchors. Optional base reinforcement for outdoor installations rated to 180 km/h wind load.
- Bracing: diagonal X-braces in the vertical plane plus horizontal portal bars give 3-direction stability without front-to-back sway, certified under EN 15512:2020.
Load tables you can audit
Each arm is proof-load tested to 1.5 × rated capacity; full bay assemblies are tested to 1.3 × combined load. Documentation is supplied with every order: static calculations, weld maps, material certificates and a unique QC number traceable to the mill heat. Need seismic calculations for California or Japan? - Mobility: rail-guided mobile bases with either manual crank or 0.75 kW electric drive, allowing one aisle to service ten rack faces. Wireless safety light curtains stop motion instantly if personnel enter the aisle.
Installation and after-sales
Herochu ships racks pre-bolted in sub-assemblies; average install time for a 30 m run is one shift with two men and a scissor lift.
