Herochu Vertical Sheet Rack System – Heavy-Duty Storage Racks for Sheet Metal, CE/ISO Certified, Custom-Built from $5,120
When every square metre of the workshop costs money and every minute of crane time matters, the Herochu Vertical Sheet Rack System turns dead aisle space into profitable storage density. Engineered for 6 m to 12 m sheet metal, plate, aluminium composite, stainless sections and even oversized plastic panels, the rack stores material upright, extractable and 100 % visible, eliminating the “dig-out” downtime that kills laser and plasma table utilisation. Starting at $5,120 for a single-sided three-level module, each structure is welded in our 16,000 m² Jinan plant, inspected to ISO 9001 and shipped with EU CE declaration and Australian steel-code compliance paperwork ready for local permitting.
Instant ROI – reclaim up to 70 % floor space
Traditional floor staging or block stacking demands 3–5 m service aisles on both sides of the stock. By contrast, Herochu pull-out arms present one sheet at a time to the crane operator, allowing a 1.4 m aisle and releasing the remaining bay for second-phase machinery or extra racks. Customers regularly report 60–70 % footprint reduction and a measurable drop in forklift travel, translating into lower gas consumption and reduced labour overtime.

Four pre-engineered standards, infinite custom combinations
The model code tells the story:
HC-G6053S – 6 000 mm height, 5 t per layer, single side, 3+1 levels, 8 t total
HC-G6053D – same height, double side, 25 t total
HC-G9055S/D – 9 000 mm, 5 t per cradle, 35 t total
HC-G9055D-12 – extended to 12 000 mm for ship-yard plate, 42 t total
Need something different? Our HC-B custom line accepts any sheet length from 3 m to 12 m, cradle widths from 1 500 mm to 2 000 mm and unit loads from 2 t to 6 t per level. Five, seven or nine tiers, single or double entry, powder-coated Herochu orange/blue or your corporate RAL—drawings are released within 48 hours and first steel cut inside seven days.

Crane-friendly pull-out cantilever design
Each arm is a 550–800 mm welded box beam, shot-blasted SA 2.5 and finished with 80 µm epoxy-polyester powder. Precision linear bearings on induction-hardened shafts give <25 N pull force even at 5 t load, so a 250 kg capacity overhead crane can slide the cradle smoothly while the main hoist handles the sheet. Polyamide side rollers centre the material during extraction and prevent edge scoring on polished stainless or pre-painted panels. Full extension means the operator can attach vacuum cups or C-hooks without reaching into the rack, improving OH&S scores and cutting scratch rejection rates.
PLC frequency-conversion control – optional electric drive
Heavy plate mills and wind-tower fabricators often choose the electric version. A 0.75 kW SEW geared motor on each level drives a roller chain linked to the cantilever; a Mitsubishi PLC with frequency converter provides soft start/stop and overload protection. Push-button stations at aisle entry and remote pendant allow one crane driver to sequence multiple cradles without leaving the cab. Position sensors interlock with your fibre-laser loading table for semi-automatic feed, trimming an extra 30 s per sheet change in high-volume nests.

Load tables verified by third-party FEM analysis
Herochu racking is designed to EN 1993-1-1 (Eurocode 3) and checked with ANSYS finite-element software. Safety factors: 1.5 on yield, 2.2 on buckling, 1.4 on bolt shear. Uprights are 450 mm deep, 6 mm thick folded RHS with 12 mm baseplates, anchored by M24 chemical studs into 200 mm reinforced concrete. Each arm carries a forged steel safety pin that engages automatically at full extension, preventing accidental roll-out during crane manoeuvres. Ultimate bay capacity is stamped on the data plate and mirrored in the cloud-based inspection log.
Modular expansion – bolt, don’t weld
Growing fabrication shops appreciate the splice-upright system. Add 1 200 mm or 1 500 mm height sections to raise from 6 m to 9 m or 12 m without dismantling existing arms. Bay length expands in 1 005 mm increments; join multiple racks with shared columns to create a continuous 30 m wall of sheet storage that still qualifies as “temporary equipment” under many building codes, avoiding costly council development applications.

Accessories that turn a rack into a system
- Removable divider pins – segregate mixed remnants by alloy or thickness
- Rubber face caps – protect polished architectural stainless from fork scratches
- Drip-tray cradles – capture coolant and oil for EPA-compliant workshops
- LED aisle lighting – magnetic strip, IP65, 24 V, motion-activated
- Laser barcode arm tags – integrate with SAP or Oracle WMS for real-time inventory
- Floor-mounted load cells – convert any bay into a 30 t weigh station for incoming goods
Certifications and traceability
Every Vertical Sheet Rack leaves the factory with:
- Mill test certificates for Q355B structural steel
- Galvanised finish option (85 µm zinc) for coastal or chemical environments
- CE declaration of conformity (Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC)
- ISO 9001:2015 quality management audit report
- Assembly manual, torque chart, anchor layout drawing and digital 3-step installation video
- Five-year structural warranty and lifetime technical support from our Sydney and Dortmund service hubs
Typical industries already saving with Herochu
Commercial laser job shops, HVAC duct manufacturers, aluminium curtain-wall fabricators, trailer body builders, ship repair yards, wind-tower internals suppliers, stainless tank OEMs, plastic sheet distributors and military vehicle armour programmes. Wherever 4 mm to 40 mm plate or sheet enters a facility, Herochu racks cut travel time, reduce handling damage and create the visual order auditors love.
Lead time and logistics
Standard models: 15–20 days. Custom colours or non-standard bay widths: 25 days. Knock-down export package—uprights and arms steel-strapped on fumigation-free plywood pallets, hardware in sealed plastic kegs, total volume 30 % less than fully welded frames, saving one 40 ft container per five racks. Incoterms FOB Qingdao, CIF Felixstowe, DDP Chicago or DAP Sydney available. Installation supervision can be quoted separately; most customers erect a five-bay system with two technicians and a 5 t telehandler in under six hours.
