When 25-ton coils are waiting to be cut and every square metre of your workshop costs more than a new CNC, you do not need “another shelf”. You need a Herochu HC-B tower: a stainless-steel plate storage rack that turns dead vertical air into a high-speed, high-density buffer bank. Built for 5- to 15-metre ceilings, each welded-steel module stores up to 5,000 kg per lever and can be multiplied sideways or upwards without ever freezing your layout. How the tower works (and why forklifts love it)
Inside the tower, each plate lives in its own welded cassette rated for the weight of a small car. A frequency-controlled lifting manipulator glides the cassette up or down, while an extractor shuttle transfers it horizontally to the dispensing table. The table then gives the bundle a 150 mm “lift”, creating the exact clearance a forklift needs to slide in—no chains, no slings, no scratched surfaces. Single-sheet picking? Swap the fork for a suction vacuum lifter or permanent-magnet beam in under two minutes. Front, rear or side transfer stations are possible; tell us where the aisle is and we will mirror the design.
One control cabinet governs the whole dance: Siemens PLC, 7-inch colour HMI, automatic height measurement and overload cut-out. If your ERP can spit out a .csv, we can import the stock list and let the tower fetch the right plate while the operator is still tying his boots.
Roll-Out Sheet Rack option—same frame, drawer speed
Sometimes you do not need a robot, you need instant eye-level access. Our Roll-Out drawers bolt straight onto the HC-B uprights, turning the tower into a hybrid system. Each telescopic drawer opens 100 %, locks in both positions and swallows 2,268 kg UDL. Up to 13 drawers per 2440 mm module, coated with slick UHMW so even mirror-polished stainless or painted aluminium leaves without a scar. Add a cradle insert and the same drawer stores tubes, angles or dies—no second rack to buy.
Built for the metal-centre reality
Laser head waiting for the next 10 mm sheet? Tower feeds it. Night shift cutting 3 mm job after job? Tower buffers the remnants and keeps them sorted by remnant ID. The 5 m to 15 m height range lets you park plates above the crane hook path instead of losing three forklift aisles on the ground. Result: up to 80 % floor-space recovery, 65 % faster retrieval and a 40 % drop in damaged sheet claims. One Swiss job-shop paid its HC-B6020-65 off in eleven months purely by renting the freed floor space to a neighbour.
Surface & rust defence
All steel parts are shot-blasted Sa 2.5, zinc-primed and finished with 80 µm textured powder coat. Stainless fixtures and zinc-flake fasteners are used at every bolted joint, so the rack laughs at coolant mist and the salty air of coastal ports. Specify optional Nano-ceramic clear coat for white-room or food-grade environments.
Transport & 30-minute assembly
The tower ships in knocked-down bolted modules: film-wrapped, hardboard-capped, stacked in 40 HC containers. Two guys, one scissor lift and a torque wrench can bolt a 6 m bay together in half a shift. Anchor bolts and laser-levelling template come in the box; no on-site welding, no hot-work permit.

After-sales that actually answers
We keep a 48-hour spare-parts ex-stock rule: if a sensor or roller fails, the replacement is on the courier before you finish the failure report. Remote diagnostics via secure VPN is free for the first five years; firmware updates are pushed overnight. When the crane eventually needs a new wire rope, we send the instruction video and the pre-cut rope—no service monopoly, no ransom pricing.
